Genital Warts in Men Treatment in Indore

Genital warts are soft growths on the penis, scrotum, groin or around the anus caused by the human papillomavirus. They are among the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide and are entirely treatable, but they are also the condition men most often try to hide, self-treat or ignore. Consultation at Intimate Clinic is fully confidential, and most cases are cleared in a single daycare sitting.

What are Genital Warts?

HPV enters through microscopic breaks in the skin during sexual contact and causes the surface cells to proliferate, producing small flesh-coloured, pink or greyish growths that may be flat, raised or cauliflower-shaped. Low-risk HPV types 6 and 11 cause around 90 percent of visible warts. High-risk types such as 16 and 18 do not usually produce warts but can be present simultaneously and are associated with penile, anal and oropharyngeal cancers.

Causes and Transmission

1. Skin-to-skin sexual contact, including contact that does not involve penetration
2. Condoms reduce but do not eliminate transmission, since they do not cover all affected skin
3. Multiple partners or a new partner
4. Reduced immunity from diabetes, HIV or immunosuppressive drugs
5. Smoking, which impairs local clearance of the virus
6. An incubation period of weeks to months means the source contact is often not the most recent one

Symptoms of Genital Warts in Men

1. Small painless lumps on the shaft, glans, foreskin, scrotum, groin or perianal area
2. Clusters with a rough cauliflower-like surface
3. Itching, mild burning or occasional bleeding after intercourse
4. Warts hidden under the foreskin, which are easily missed
5. Frequently no symptoms at all beyond the visible growth

When to See a Doctor

See a specialist as soon as you notice any growth in the genital area. Do not use wart paints sold for hands and feet, which cause chemical burns on genital skin. Any growth that bleeds, ulcerates, is fixed to deeper tissue or fails to respond to treatment must be biopsied. Full screening for other sexually transmitted infections is advised, and partners should be examined even if they appear normal.

Treatment for Genital Warts

1. Laser ablation: Precise, bloodless removal in a single daycare sitting with excellent cosmetic results, preferred for multiple or extensive warts.
2. Topical immunotherapy: Imiquimod or podophyllotoxin applied under supervision for small external lesions.
3. Cryotherapy and electrocautery: Effective alternatives for limited disease.
4. Circumcision: Considered where recurrent warts sit under a tight foreskin, which also lowers HPV persistence. See our laser circumcision page.
5. HPV vaccination: Recommended for eligible men to protect against the types not yet acquired and reduce recurrence.
6. Partner evaluation and STI screening: An essential part of complete treatment.

What Happens If You Delay Treatment

Genital warts multiply. A couple of small lesions can become dozens within months, extending under the foreskin and into the anal canal where they are far harder to clear and more likely to recur after treatment. Large clusters can obstruct the foreskin, cause bleeding and interfere with intercourse. Throughout this period you remain infectious to partners. And persistent high-risk HPV infection, left unmonitored over years, carries a small but real risk of malignant change. Early treatment is faster, more complete and far less likely to need repeating.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do genital warts go away on their own?

Some clear as immunity controls the virus, but many persist and spread. Treatment is faster, more reliable and reduces transmission.

Do condoms fully prevent transmission?

They reduce risk substantially but not completely, because HPV can be present on skin the condom does not cover.

Should my partner be examined?

Yes. Partners are often infected without visible warts, and examination plus vaccination advice is part of complete management.

Will treatment leave scars?

Laser treatment is precise and superficial, so scarring is minimal in experienced hands.

Can genital warts cause cancer?

The types causing visible warts rarely do. Co-existing high-risk types can, over many years, which is why assessment and follow-up matter.

Is the HPV vaccine useful after infection?

Yes. It cannot clear an existing infection but protects against the other types you have not yet acquired and reduces recurrence.
